Field Day!

Lindsey had her Field day on Friday and had a blast! It was just nice enough weather that the kids enjoyed playing in the water!

Lindsey's world

At Lindsey's IEP meeting yesterday, we discussed Lindsey's need to become more independent and her needing to do more for herself. Ms Terri her VI teacher said a lot of her kids seem to think things appear out of thin air and disappear once they are through with them because they never see the sequence that happens to get them their water or milk or whatever. So, we have started working harder on slowing down to Lindsey's speed and making her do things. Today when she got home from school Lindsey had to go potty, so I took her to the door of the bathroom and told her where she was and to go find the potty. In the mean time, Holly had gone to her room and was dragging her blanket and pillow into the front room so she could watch Peter Pan. So I helped Holly get the blanket, that only made it half way, and carry it into the front room. Then I went to check on Lindsey. She had made it all the way in the bathroom to the potty and had gotten up on the potty all by her self and gone! There was just one little catch, she forgot to take her panties off. Oh well, at least she got the rest of it right! (laughing continuously)

A great day!

We had a really wonderful day today! Charlotte was blessed and it was a wonderful blessing. She is such a precious girl. Then we had our family over for hamburgers and hot dogs. It was really a nice mothers day. My husband was pleasant and helpful! Then Leanne took home my sweet Holly to spend the night with Katie. I didn't ever realize how much time I spend dealing with Holly until tonight. Lindsey and Charlotte snuggled in bed with us and watched the finale of The Amazing Race. It was nice not to have to wrestle a toddler while watching our show, and the other two girls loved the attention! Charlotte loved just getting to be held all night long and Lindsey cuddled with daddy and tickied Daddy! Lindsey is such a funny girl, tonight when we put her in bed I turned on her music and it was pretty loud from earlier, so I went and turned it down and went to give her a kiss. She told me "I want to turn it up", I just started laughing! I'm just grateful she can communicate what she wants now. It's so much nicer for all of us!

Daddy the enforcer!

So we have moved Holly into her cute little toddler bed, but it has been a real struggle. She really likes her freedom and has missed several naps because she has gotten up to play. Yesterday she took a nap after pulling her pillow and blanket off her bed and laying down right next to her door with her Dot Dot, Cow, and Bunny. So daddy and I have had enough and have finally figured out a punishment that actually affects that child. Daddy takes away her babies! Every time he goes in to check on her and shes not in her bed he takes a baby. First cow, then bunny and then the most painful Dot Dot! It kills him every time he has to take away Dot Dot because that one really upsets her (the other two are just warnings). Last night daddy had to take Dot away and she screamed and when she finally calmed down and had stayed in bed for a while he gave Dot back to her. This morning when she woke up I took her to the store with me and she wouldn't leave her Dot Dot for a minute. I think we might have found something that actually works!

Little stinker

Last night we had the missionaries over for dinner, which was an adventure in itself, and all through dinner my sweet Little Lindsey kept farting. By the end of dinner the missionaries, Kyle and I were all cracking up! Oh the joy of being a parent!

Problem solving

Often when I deal with Holly, I think of my poor big sister dealing with Katie and think to myself, what have I done! Because as wonderfully sweet as Ms Holly is she is a handful like my darling niece and to make matters worse she has a little sister to follow her influence. I'm beginning to think God finds my life funny! There are times I can just look at Holly and see the thought she's putting into things and it scares me that she is going to be more clever than I am too soon and then what am I going to do? She has now discovered she can carry the little step stool from the bathroom all over and it gives her those much needed extra inches. If that doesn't work, she can push our step stool in the kitchen around which gives her access to everything. Anything I put on the counters to keep out of her reach she can now get to, which included the candy from her Easter basket (this being the reason she discovered this little trick).
Yesterday while I was waiting for Lindsey's bus, Holly and I were out picking weeds in the yard and I turned around and she was gone. It scared me to death. She had seen a cat under the neighbors (two houses down) car and needed to go see it! She was all the way across the next door neighbors drive when I caught her. It's no wonder her and Katie are such good friends, they are very similar!

What am I going to do with her!

We've gotten in a pretty good routine here recently and after dinner we read scriptures and then the girls go take a bath together. I usually fill up the tub, let them play for a while and then go get Holly out so Lindsey can enjoy her bath alone, which she prefers. Holly really tries her patience, she doesn't like to sit still in the bath, she walks all over the place to get the toys she wants and usually uses poor Lindsey's hair to keep her balance! Well, last night I heard Lindsey in there screaming so I figured Holly was pulling her hair again, oh how wrong I was. Holly had gotten the shampoo bottle and taken it upon herself to wash her and Lindsey's hair. Both girls hair was covered in suds and Holly was pooring what was left of the shampoo on Lindseys head and of course Lindseys eyes were full of soap! She was trying to wipe them but the bath was so covered in suds it was just making it worse! I know she's just trying to help but her help is EXHAUSTING me!

Oh and on a happier note Charlottes eyes are lightening up and it looks like I just might have two blue eyed girls!
